In this article, I seek to explain the various ways in which you can give accurate directions to your delivery guy, the Boda guy, or even your friends.
Use of Landmarks
One easy way to give people direction is by picturing yourself going along the route with them. Most people follow directions best when they’re given in “route perspective,” which focuses on describing what you’ll see along the way and the travel time between these landmarks. You can say something like: “Turn right at the big mosque over there, then go that way for about five minutes…” You can easily direct a person from landmark to landmark. Tell the person about very prominent and hard-to-miss landmarks. Landmarks will give the person an idea of the progress they’re making. They’ll also let the person know if they’re still on the path you advised them to take. Examples of landmarks to use include: historic buildings, signs, or monuments; churches, synagogues, or other religious buildings; large businesses; geographical/environmental features like hills or rivers; roadway characteristics like a bridge.
Using Google Maps
With the advance in Technology, giving of direction has become relatively easier. One great way to do so is by using Google Maps. Notes:
For transit directions, choose a route, then tap the bar at the bottom that shows travel time and distance. Not all cities have public transit directions in Google Maps.

Whatsapp and Telegram Location
Social media sites such as WhatsApp and Telegram have made it really easy to give directions nowadays. All you have to do is send your friend your location via the chat. This method is also effective when the other party knows how to effectively use it. Open Whatsapp or Telegram and start a new conversation or open an existing chat.
Tips to give good directions
Describe the environment in detail. This comes in handy in case there exists another place with similar features. Describing the environment in detail increases the chances of the person accurately finding your place. Point out potential danger points along the way. Is there a sudden, steep decline in the sidewalk ahead, or a tricky, busy intersection to cross? Is a truck blocking the sidewalk? Maybe the pedestrian path goes from wide to narrow. Passing on information about any obstacles will help the person arrive at his or her destination quickly and safely.
